WEILAND, Ex-GNR Members Were Free Agents Prior To Signing With RCA
Hits Daily Double reports that last week's announcement that the Immortal-managed VELVET REVOLVER were inking with RCA/J Records Group ruler Clive Davis and RCA A&R kingpin Ashley Newton sparked some questions as to the bandmembers' past label obligations. According to inside sources, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS owe Atlantic one record — but the band will be releasing a greatest-hits CD in the near-future, thus freeing singer Scott Weiland from any further commitments to the label. The ex-GUNS N' ROSES members who make up the rest of VR, having fulfilled their obligations to Geffen, were free agents prior to the new deal.
